History of THE BCI
The Bogey Classic Invitational began in the summer of 2006 at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
The trip started out with the original eight members pictured on the picture to your right. (top left) Clint Sojourner, Jamie Taliaferro, Corey Leedy, Reid Henderson, (bottom left) Tyler Henderson, Justin Russell, Pearson Handlin and (the guy who took the picture) the Godfather of the BCI, Bob Leedy. The trip was just completed for the 13th straight year and has taken over cities all over the USA. The trip has now grown to 28 members and has changed to a Ryder Cup style format.
Every year Team Azul Vs Team Rojo face off in our annual duel. Each team consists of 14 players. Every day the 14 players on each big team (AZUL & ROJO) get split up into two man scramble teams, and there are seven match-play scramble matches each day. The tournament last for three days, and all 18 holes are played in each match. Each hole won is worth a point and each holed tied is worth a half of point. The big team of 14 with the most points at the end of the week, wins “THE CUP” and the coveted Velour Championship vests! The world famous title belts go to the two MVP’s from the winning team. However, the best reward of winning THE BCI is bragging rights for one full calendar year.
Each years BCI destination and pairings for that year’s matches is selected at the annual BCI site selection dinner. This year the BCI will be taking over the city of Lake Tahoe, Nevada for the fourth straight year and will be played at Edgewood Golf Club.
